Arisaig is a place that stays with you long after you’ve left – the breathtaking views, long walks and stunning beaches, the feeling of peace that envelops you and even the great food. What better way to remember your time there and keep a little piece of this part of the world than with a unique souvenir from Arisaig?
If you’re looking for unique gifts to take home for friends and family, they’re sure to love some of these too. Many of these items are locally crafted, meaning your purchase not only supports local businesses but also promotes sustainability.
I’ve bought almost all of these myself and several have pride of place in my home. The one or two that I don’t yet have are definitely on my wish list!
Best Souvenirs from Arisaig, Morar and Mallaig
1. Glass pendants or ornaments with sand from your favourite beaches
This is my number one because I was so excited to discover these beautiful glass pendants with such a unique way to keep the stunning beaches of Arisaig close to my heart (quite literally!) The one I bought has a mix of sand from three beaches – Morar, Camusdarach and Traigh. You can also buy ornamental pieces with sand from just one of these beaches if you have a favourite, or even order a custom piece made with sand from a beach that holds a special place in your heart.
Many long-time visitors to Arisaig have much deeper personal ties to the area and, to cut the long story of my conversation with the artist Zoe Garner short, a small amount of ashes can also be incorporated into the beads, making them an even more sentimental keepsake.
I wear my necklace, with its beads of sand from the three beaches, every day, and it keeps Arisaig with me wherever I go. I’m already planning to order another – perhaps one made from the sands where I played in my childhood.
You can find these gorgeous Arisaig Souvenirs along with other handmade glass items in Mallaig at the Waterside Collection opposite the Harbour Shop. If the shop’s closed, you can also find a range at Mallaig Community Hub on Davie’s Brae.

2. A painting of Arisaig’s scenic spots or views
One of the things visitors love most about Arisaig is the stunning views – the sweeping beaches, the dramatic coastline and the breathtaking vistas across to Skye and the Small Isles. Why not take one of those views home with you by buying a painting or print?
Mallaig Art Gallery sells works by numerous artists who capture the beauty of the local scenes. You can buy an original painting or a more affordable print, as well as both framed and unframed prints, which are easier to pack and frame at home.
We’ve treated ourselves to a few of these for our own home and they add the perfect finishing touch.

3. West Highland Tea
The West Highland Tea Company is another local and sustainable business, creating a delightful range of teas. They offer not only the classic favourites but also unique blends with a distinct Scottish twist, all hand-blended right here in Mallaig. My favourites are West Highlands Earl Grey, Fairy Glen and the tangy and warming Rhubarb and Ginger Tea!
Apart from their teas, the shop also stocks lots of other great products from Scottish suppliers. You’ll find items like honey, handmade soap and more, so you’ll find plenty gifts that truly celebrate the best of the Highlands.
You can buy West Highland Tea at the shop in Station Rd in Mallaig and their new tea studio is round the corner near the harbour. You can also buy it at Arisaig Land, Sea and Islands Centre but the flavours are usually limited. To buy online, visit the West Highland Tea Company website.

4. Hand-crafted Tweed Cushion
On Mallaig High Street, make sure to stop by The Highland Koo. The owner makes the cushions herself and they come in beautiful plaids and a range of colours. If you’re not a cushion person, she also makes gorgeous scarves.
I don’t have one yet, but they’re definitely on my wish list and I think they’d look great on my sofa. They’d also make fantastic gifts to take home for loved ones or to save for special occasions like Christmas or birthdays. They’re a wonderful way to share a piece of the Highlands with others.
You can find The Highland Koo on Station Rd at the roundabout. There are also lots of other goodies to buy there too.
Tip: If you’re flying and worried about cushions taking your luggage space, vacuum bags are great! All you need is a vacuum cleaner.

5. Hope Blamire Coasters, Table Mats and Pot Stands
Hope Blamire’s beautiful paintings of the Scottish West Coast look gorgeous on her coasters, table mats and pot stands and are perfect for bringing a touch of the local scenery into your home. Every time you sit down at the dining table, you’ll be reminded of the beautiful views from Arisaig and the stunning Hebridean landscapes.
Needless to say, the Arisaig scenes are my personal favourites, but Hope offers a range of products with painted scenes of the wider West Coast. These items make wonderful gifts for family and friends or a special treat for yourself.
You can find some of her products at the gift/toy shop in Mallaig, the Arisaig Land, Sea and Islands Centre and Arisaig Marine Gift Shop. Some of her prints and lampshades can be found at Mallaig Art Gallery. If you’d like to see more of her paintings, prints and products, you can also order directly from her online shop.

6. Locally-smoked Fish
One of the best souvenirs from Mallaig is for food lovers. Choose from a range of delicious smoked items, including smoked salmon, haddock and kippers, all known for their incredible flavour. Sustainably caught fish is smoked over oak or peat in the kilns built with their own hands. (Are you drooling yet?)
In fact, Jaffy’s smoked products aren’t just good, they’re award-winning good! But don’t worry, you won’t be smelling your oak-smoked Mallaig kippers all the way home. They’ll be vacuum-packed to keep them well-sealed and fresh.
You can buy them in their shop at Mallaig Railway Station and you can find lots of other fine Scottish food there too. You can also order online on their website.

7. Hand-crafted Glass Fridge Magnets
I love these fridge magnets for a small gift or little reminder for yourself. Glass by Shardsy also creates other handcrafted glass items, including jewellery and wall art. You can find them at the Highland Koo in Mallaig and at regular craft fairs at Astley Hall in Arisaig. You can see more of her fused glass products on her Facebook and Instagram page.

8. Homemade Jams, Preserves, Chutney and Tablet
For a sweet and flavoursome taste of Arisaig, visit the Arisaig Land, Sea and Islands Centre where you’ll find a tempting selection of jams, preserves and chutneys, all lovingly made with local ingredients. These make fantastic gifts or treats to enjoy at home, capturing the essence of the Highlands in every bite. My favourite is the High Dumpsy Dearie with the Rhubarb and Ginger a close second.
You can also pick up some homemade tablet while you’re there. In case you haven’t tried tablet yet, it’s a traditional Scottish sweet that’s rich, buttery, and utterly delicious – melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
Better still, proceeds go to the Arisaig Community Trust, so you’re supporting local initiatives too. All the more reason to buy more!
If you’ve got empty glass jars during your visit, drop them into the centre to use for the next batch of preserves.

9. MV Sheerwater Tiles and Fridge Magnets
If you took a boat trip on the MV Sheerwater to one of the islands or maybe just a sunset or wildlife cruise, what better way to remember your trip than a fridge magnet of the boat? Bespoke souvenirs by Elspeth Gardner are available at the Arisaig Marine gift shop. You can also buy tiles with lovely scenes of the Sands of Morar, views across to Eigg and Rum, and Mallaig Harbour with Skye in the background.

10. RNLI Mallaig Teddy
If you’re looking for Mallaig Souvenirs for little ones, the adorable teddy bear wearing a jumper that says Mallaig is perfect. You can find it at the RNLI gift shop near the harbour along with a lovely range of other gifts. Every purchase helps support the vital work of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
This cute keepsake isn’t just a lovely souvenir for visitors of all ages, it also has a special connection to the local community and the brave people who risk their lives to save others at sea.

11. Hand-crafted Leather Belts
Another fabulous idea for souvenirs from Mallaig. Made locally in Morar, these hand-crafted belts came in lots of different colours and are perfect for spicing up your outfits.
You can find them at Mallaig Community Hub and Shop along with lots more locally produced and sustainable items.
12. Ardnamurchan Candles
Okay, Ardnamurchan is a few miles away, but you’ll still be reminded of the smells of Arisaig! The candles are crafted sustainably on the peninsula and with scents with names like Forager’s Delight, After the Storm and Cranachan, how can you resist? And although Bother Me Not may not sound like a gift, it’s designed to keep midges at bay.
You can find them at Arisaig Marine Gift Shop, Mallaig Art Gallery or see more at the Ardnamurchan Candle Co. website.

13. Harry Potter Merch – (one for the younger ones!)
Let’s face it, most tweens and teens aren’t going to want you a painting, pot stand or smoked haddock. Not to worry because Haggard Alley in Mallaig is full of fun items that will delight any Potterhead and the chances are that you’ll find something to please non-Potterheads too.
Just a few things we’ve bought in there include jewellery, bookmarks, a broomstick (not quite a Nimbus 2000 though), dolls, notebooks, clothing and even spooky drinks.
